There are a few things we learned during the past two years of the global pandemic. One of the biggest things that we learned is that our current homes may not work for us when we're quarantined and/or working from home.
Texas is known for big spaces and affordability, and as a result there have been a wave of people relocating from California to the Dallas area. According to this article from the Dallas Morning News Dallas county ranks Number 2 in the state for California relocations. And three of the surrounding counties (Tarrant, Collin, and Denton) rank as number 4, 6 and 7 for relocations.
Additionally "Homebuyers are also getting larger living spaces, with the average D-FW home offering more than 650 square feet in extra living space compared to Los Angeles County.
“I think there’s no question that the main driver is housing prices in California,” said William Fulton, director at the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University. “When housing prices in California go up, so does migration to Texas."
