If we've learned anything from living through the past couple of years, its that things are changing and they may never go back to "normal". One of the biggest changes has been the shift from working in a traditional office environment to working from home.
According to this article from the Atlanta Business Journal "The number of remote jobs is growing, and 25% of professional, high-paying jobs will be remote by the end of 2022, according to a new analysis by high-paying jobs site Ladders, Inc." And most economist don't see that trend changing any time soon...

What does this mean, and how does it tie into real estate? Well there are two major factors:
1. Commute times are now a thing of the past. That neighborhood that you absolutely loved that was an hour drive from work is now attaintable. That high performing school district that would've given you a 90 minute commute is calling your name. In other words, people are no long restricted by location. You can find a quiet suburb with more bang for your buck, or finally enjoy the country living you've always wanted. Not only that, who says you need to live on the expensive East/West coasts? Texas offers a lower cost of living and no state income tax!
2. Many people are realizing that their current home does not function well as a work from home space. Is your dining room also your zoom studio and your kids at home classroom? If you're fortunate enough to have a home office, are you sharing that with your spouse or partner? Do you have the privacy to handle personnel calls without the dogs barking? Do you have a quiet environment to focus without hearing the kids playing in the background?
90% of the issues listed above can be rectified with a strong internet connection, a decent cell phone signal, and a conversation with me about your options. If you fall into either of the two camps above, its time to give me a call so we can talk about finding a home/neighborhood/school district that works for you and your family in this new normal.
If you have questions or like you'd additional information on how you can make the new normal work for you, give me a call at 214-799-0019. Or if you found this info helpful, or know of someone that could use some assistance feel free to share.
