Summertime is the Best in the Best Southwest

The kids are almost out of school and summertime is right around the corner.  If you're looking for FREE, family friendly activities, right in your backyard this is the place to be.  Check out these events in Desoto, Duncanville and Cedar Hil.

First up, is the annual Desoto Crawfish Festival.  On Saturday, June 3rd at Grimes Park, located at 510 E. Wintergreen Road in Desoto, come on out from 6 to 9:30PM and see what Desoto has to offer.  Enjoy tons of delicious spicy crawfish, great food, live music, vendors and games. Revel in the best blues and funk and enjoy the infectious rhythms. Next on the calendar is the Cedar Hill Music in the Park concert series.  On the Fridays June 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th at the Valley Ridge Park amphitheater, located at 2850 Park Ridge Drive in Cedar Hill, you can come and experience various live performances.  The shows start at 8pm.  Bring your lawn chair, or blanket, and enjoy a free concert while relaxing under the stars every Friday night in June. Finally, one of the biggest celebrations in Texas is the Juneteenth holiday.  Each year the Best Southwest Communities of Duncanville, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, and Lancaster come together for one of Texas’ best Juneteenth Celebration. This year, the celebration will be hosted by the City of Duncanville on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Come on out to Armstrong Park located at 100 James Collins Blvd in Duncanville.  The event will feature four hours of live music from the area’s best musicians, a Black Author’s Expo, Cultural Expo, Wellness Expo, vendor booths, and bounce houses.
