We get it, the Sunshine State is pretty cool. It has the glam of Hollywood, the cool vibe of the Bay area, and some nice scenery. However, there is just something about Texas that just keeps people coming from California...
This article, from USA Today gives a few reasons that "The number of people leaving the Golden State for Texas has grown by 36%", or roughly 300 people per day! As someone that has helps countless families relocate from all over the globe, I'll share my Top 5 Reasons to move from California to Texas.

1. Everything is BIGGER IN TEXAS. Literally... On average, the hopes in the Dallas Ft Worth metroplex are 17% larger than the homes in Los Angeles County. In some cases, moving from LA County to Collin County (North Dallas suburbs) get buyers an additional 1,000+ square feet on average.
2. Your dollar goes much farther in the Great State of Texas. First and foremost is there is no state income tax! Secondly, electrical utilities are deregulated in Texas (i.e. you can choose between 50+ energy companies) so the utilities are on average 20% less than in California.
3. Texas is hiring yall! With an unemployment rate of 4.1% (which is lower than California's) it doesn't matter if you're a skilled laborer, a craftsman, fresh out of college, in middle management, or an executive climbing the corporate ladder there are plenty of well-paying opportunities here in Texas.
4. Texas is open for business. Texas leads the nation is the number of Fortune 500 companies with 53. According to one expert quoted in Forbes, "This is no accident... We should continue to see Texas, which has among the most business-friendly policies in the U.S., take additional market share of corporate headquarters away from other states". If it's good enough for Exxon, AT&T, Charles Schwab, Tesla, etc...
5. The MILLION DOLLAR difference. Who wouldn't want to save a million dollars? "Homes cost, on average, about $282,000 less in Texas compared to California, amounting to a 70% price-tag difference. Buying a home in the Dallas area as opposed to one in San Jose can result in savings of over $1 million on average, as the home price difference between Santa Clara and Dallas counties is a whopping 258%." Over the course of a 30-year mortgage that could mean an additional MILLION dollars in an investment account, knocking off your student loan debt decades earlier, or paying for your kid's college without them going into debt.
